About the author

As a cultural critic, filmmaker and photographer, Nicolas Janvier seeks not to explain the world, but to catch it misbehaving.

He gathers fragments – stories, pictures, unanswered questions – to document those spaces where meaning breaks down and cracks appear into the fabric of lived reality. His hope is that from such brushes with the ineffable, new narratives will emerge that come to challenge established ways of being, thinking and seeing. He deals in the interstitial, the intrusive, the ruptured. Of those things that are uncared-for, he aims to reveal enough for somebody to eventually take them home.
